Fantastic to see that work on the Tram Bridge is starting soon. The new structure links Preston city centre and South Ribble over the River Ribble.
This project will be delivered by Preston City Council using part of the Government’s £20m Levelling Up funding allocation from the Department of Levelling Up Housing and Communities (DLUHC), together with an additional £1 million funding from Lancashire County Council.
I campaigned in Parliament and wrote to the Secretary of State to support the bid and I’m so pleased that the work is due to begin.
The new bridge will be fantastic for levelling up. It'll mean better sustainable transport options and plenty of opportunities to stay active by walking and cycling between Preston and South Ribble.
Thank you to the Friends of Tram Bridge for all their campaigning.
