We have a proud history of supporting nuclear power in the north, so it was great to visit Culham Science Centre today with the Science and Technology Committee to see how the UK is leading the way in developing nuclear fusion.
From plants like Sellafield to local facilities like Springfields, we have a wealth of brilliant nuclear experience in the north-west. Fusion is the next step in this journey, and it was fantastic to have the chance to go and see how this exciting technology is developing
With the expertise that we have in South Ribble and beyond, fusion will mean highly skilled, well-paid jobs and will help secure the UK's energy market. Big thanks to everyone at Culham and the JET fusion project for having us and for their hard work.
