Well done to everyone who works hard in our local schools to ensure that the children have the best possible education.
A huge amount of work is being done across South Ribble to improve our schools. In recent years we have seen English schools rocket up the international league tables. We are 11th internationally for maths (up from 27th in 2009) and 13th for reading (up from 25th in 2009). Plus, our 9-10 year olds are the best readers in the western world. 
This can only happen with the combination of a good curriculum, fantastic teachers and great quality schools.
To help improve our schools and support the fantastic teachers we have, we have seen very significant investment from Government. Four of our schools most in need are being completely rebuilt. Tarleton Academy, Penwortham Girls High School and Wellfield Academy along with Seven Stars Primary School in Leyland are all getting complete school rebuilds. Other schools like Worden Academy, Bishop Rawstorne Church of England Academy in Croston and Northbrook Primary Academy have received funds to improve their sites.
I have campaigned hard to get funding into our schools and I am so pleased these Government schemes are benefitting parents and children across South Ribble.
