Lots of you have been emailing asking about the local benefits of the Prime Minister's announcement of Network North last week. It's a huge investment with £19.8 Billion for the North, including lots of local schemes that affect us directly as well as regional projects we will benefit from.
Doubling train frequency on the East Lancashire line.
A582 South Ribble Western Distributor Upgrade Scheme, included in £460 million to guarantee the delivery of 21 road schemes.
£12bn to better connect Manchester and Liverpool, delivering Northern Powerhouse Rail.
Faster and more frequent trains between all the North’s main cities: Hull, Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester.
Preston to London Euston on HS2 in 1 hr 40 min, 30 min faster than now.
Over £700 million for bus service improvement plans in the North.
Keeping the £2 bus fare.
£3.3 billion to resurface roads in the North and tackle the scourge of potholes for everyday drivers
£100 million to support the development and rollout of London-style contactless and smart ticketing.
£350 million nationally to improve accessibility at up to 100 stations
£2.5bn to invest in local transport in the north.
These projects will make a real difference in our part of the world and I will be working to secure some of this funding to get Midge Hall station reopened and the buffers taken out at Ormskirk to reinstate Burscough Curves.
You can tell me what you think of our local transport infrastructure and what local priorities should be here:
