Exciting news for small businesses and aspiring apprentices in South Ribble. 
I am a strong advocate for the importance of apprenticeships. Since 2010, the Government have created a world-class apprenticeship system, offering more opportunities for young people to gain the skills they need to succeed and helping to keep our talent right here in South Ribble.
A fantastic package of reforms is being introduced to boost apprenticeship opportunities.
Starting April 2024, apprenticeships in small businesses will be fully funded by the Government for people up to the age of 21, reducing costs for small businesses and increasing opportunities for young people.
The funding that large employers paying the Apprenticeship Levy can pass onto other businesses will see a significant increase from 25% to 50%.
Over the past year alone, 720 people In South Ribble started an apprenticeship, with thousands more benefiting since 2010. It’s brilliant to see young people realising their potential and getting great jobs locally.
