As part of the Government’s ambitious Growth Plan, they announced a huge number of infrastructure plans that will be accelerated - the dualling of the A582 included.
The A582 has been one of Lancashire’s biggest traffic hotspots for a long while, and upgrades have been sorely needed. Thanks to this Government’s Growth Plan, these improvements will come about sooner than expected through a combination of planning reform, regulatory reform, and other measures.
The hope is that we can have spades in the ground by the end of 2023 in delivering these much needed improvements. Upgrading the A582 will be a massive improvement for South Ribble, and I can’t wait for it to get started!
