I met Andy our local man from the Environment Agency to review the works to prevent future flooding.
It's part of a £40m government investment in the River Ribble flood defences to stop the awfulness of flooding.
Whilst some of it is simple ( like blocking up the holes in the old gas pipeline bridge ( see picture ) Some of it is much more involved. He talked me through what's being done to make sure the allotment holders and residents are aware of the building up of the embankment and river wall to stop the water coming in, and whilst there will be some disruption, the peace of mind once finished will be priceless.
