It was an honour to attend three remembrance parades this weekend to pay my respects to those who lost their lives in defence of the country.
Remembrance weekend is a time for Lancashire and the whole country to mark the sacrifice of those who have lost their lives in more than a century of conflicts. I was proud to pay my respects on behalf of residents again this year and to meet with veterans and their families at the services.
Thank you to everyone who organised these moving and well attended events. I know it means a great deal to South Ribble people that they take place every year and I was so pleased to see so many young people at them. It means the sacrifice of previous generations in the name of freedom will be known and understood by our future generations.
I paid for all my wreaths from my own funds as a mark of respect to those who have fallen in battle, to those who have served and to those who continue to serve across the world.
I laid wreaths on behalf of the constituency at Hutton Village Memorial on Saturday and Penwortham War Memorial and Croston War Memorial on Sunday.
I would like to thank the councillors who attended other services across the constituency on my behalf.
Cllr Connor Watson attended St Michael's Church in Hoole and the councillors who laid wreaths on my behalf were:
Cllr Mary Green at Leyland Cenotaph
Cllr Graham Gooch at Longton Village Memorial
Cllr John Gordon at Rufford War Memorial
Cllr Joan Witter at Hesketh Bank War Memorial
Cllr John Howard at Banks War Memorial
Cllr Darren Daniels at Tarleton War Memorial
Cllr Val Caunce at Eccleston Cenotaph
Cllr Craige Southern at Mawdesley War Memorial
