Catching up with BAE and finding out about the latest developments in the industry.
I went to see BAE Systems last week and it was fascinating to hear all about some of the high tech developments that they have in the pipeline. I had a tour of the factory with David Holmes, the Managing Director of Falconworks.
I found out more about the work on the Tempest Future Combat Air System (FCAS), and I also got to see the Combat Air Demonstrator which will test crucial technologies needed for the UK's next generation combat aircraft, Tempest.
BAE Systems is a world-class company with world-class employees, apprenticeships and training that has developed a major element of this engineering and manufacturing expertise here in Lancashire.
As a bit of a nerd, I enjoyed some of the technical stuff as I am always interested in how people meet technology in the process of developing such complex technology.
The factory is important to our area, important to our regional and national economy and important to our national interests.
