The new ‘Stop! Think Fraud’ campaign was launched last week to help protect us all from scams and fraud in real life and online.
The campaign is part of the 2023 Fraud Strategy that has seen fraud and computer misuse fall by 13 per cent, according to the latest data from the Crime Survey of England and Wales.
I am so pleased to see this campaign in place. People lose millions from this type of crime each year and some victims feel too embarrassed to report it. This is particularly true of so-called ‘sweetheart crimes’ where fraudsters befriend, profess love and then ask their victims for money, or even bank customers who have been duped into handing over their PIN.
